Amanda Barry-Hirst is a freelance PR and communications skills specialist with over 20 years’ experience. She works both independently and in collaboration with a network of specialists to provide her clients with PR Services, specialist Environmental PR consultancy, and PR Training.
Amanda is the author of PR Power – Inside Secrets from the World of Spin, published by Virgin. She was MD of Amanda Barry Communications (ABC) for 10 years. ABC, whose clients included Motorola, Future Publishing, Mobil Oil and Lloyds TSB, won the prestigious PR Week ‘Best Small Consultancy’ Award in 1997 and became only the 7th PR consultancy in the UK to be granted the PRCA management standard.
More recently, Amanda was Head of Press & PR at WRAP (the Government-funded Waste & Resources Action Programme) where she was responsible for directing PR consumer campaigns Recycle Now and Love Food Hate Waste. She also managed national media relations on topical issues such as supermarket packaging, carrier bags and alternate weekly collections for household waste.
